The way to Insert a Bookcase Headboard to a Bed Frame

Save money, stash bedtime reading and get an original headboard all in precisely the exact same time by using a bookcase instead of a padded or decorated panel near the top of the bed. You can attach a metal bed frame into a bookcase with some simple hardware that will anchor both bed and bookcase as a single secure unit. Headboard adapter plates are adjustable metal panels that bolt into your bed frame and a wooden bookcase using screws, nuts and bolts. You need just a few tools and not much time to establish the new headboard for your bed.

Hunt for a bookcase marginally wider than the bed frame with at least two shelves higher than cushion height on your bed. The closer the match, the simpler the connection will be.

Bolt a metal frame adapter loosely to each side of the bed frame in the mind, using the holes already drilled in the metal frame. Push the bolts through from outside to inside to ensure that the part of the bolt that sticks out is below the bed. Twist the nuts to the bolts to carry them, however, don’t tighten them down however.

Move up the frame against the bookcase and fix the adapter plates so that the holes are lined up in which you want to bolt the frame into your timber. Poke a sharpened pencil through each hole and then mark the spots on the bookcase.

Move the frame from the bookcase. Drill or tap starter holes for wood screws at the bookcase. Or drill holes completely through the bookcase for those bolts.

Re-position the bed frame against the bookcase and screw the wood screws through the metal adapter holes into the wood from the inside to the outside. The screws should bite deep into the wood but not emerge on the opposite side of the board. Or, push bolts during the pre-drilled holes from the outside of the bookcase, through the adapter, and fasten the bolts with nuts around the inside of the bookcase.

Tighten all the nuts to ensure that the bed and bookcase form a secure attached unit. Utilize shelf space behind and under the bed for seasonal storage in decorative boxes or plastic storage containers. Stock the bookshelves over the mattress with novels, media equipment, framed photos and reading lamps.
