From baking a ham to roasting vegetables in olive oil, the foods you cook can leave oily spots on your oven. When you clean the oven, then remember that the oily glass if you truly want your kitchen to look pristine. Reducing through grease demands an acidic or abrasive cleaner, however you don’t have to use harsh chemicals to get your oven sparkling again. Eco-friendly cleaners do the job for a fraction of the cost of commercial oven cleaners.
Baking Soda
Measure 1/4 cup baking soda to a bowl. Add water gradually, stirring constantly, until the baking soda forms a paste.
Dip a soft sponge to the baking-soda paste, scooping up a generous quantity.
Open the oven door and bathe the glass gently in a circular movement. Leave the door open with the paste on for 20 minutes.
Wipe the baking soda off with a wet sponge. Dry the window with a paper towel.
Lemon Juice or Vinegar
Measure 1/4 cup of coarse salt into a bowl.
Add 1/4 cup of lemon juice or white vinegar, and stir to blend the ingredients.
Open the oven door. Apply the mixture with a soft sponge, and let it sit for 20 minutes.
Rinse the sponge out and remove the cleanser with water. Dry the window with a paper towel.
General Oven Cleanser
Fill a 1-quart spray bottle with water.
Add 1 tbsp all dishwashing liquid, white vinegar and hydrogen peroxide. Shake the bottle to mix.
Spray the oven glass and wipe with a moist sponge or paper towel. For tough grease, leave the cleaner on for 15 minutes before wiping.
