The way to Sew Curtains for Palladium Windows

A wide arched window flanked by two narrower, shorter, rectangular windows is properly referred to as a Palladian window, called for Renaissance architect Andrea Palladio. It may also be referred to as a palladium window; either name implies you have an architectural focal point which can be challenging to curtain. The simplest approach to take care of the unusual window setup is to mount direct poles across all 3 windows and hang rectangular drapes or curtains attached on top with clip-on curtain rings. This system calls for simple hems only and supplies light blocking which includes the arch.

Measure all three windows from the point where you would like the drapes or curtains to hang to the bottom hem. Be sure to measure the center curtain from the very top of the central arch. The easy window treatment works better when you do not pool drapes on the Landscaping design Redding, as the folds hang more gracefully when they skim the Landscaping design Miami, and the top and bottom of the curtain are well balanced.

Cut fabric panels from your curtain material. Figure for two panels twice the width of the largest window and two more panels, twice the width of this shorter, slimmer windows. Cut each panel 8 inches longer than the length from curtain rod to underside to permit for deep hems at top and bottom.

Hem the sides of the panels by folding each side, wrong-sides together, 1/2 inch and pressing the bend flat. Then fold the pressed edge above one more time — a 1-inch bend this time — and press. As you complete pressing and folding each side hem, pin the folds in position, inserting dressmaker pins perpendicular to the edge of the curtain so they wo not split the needle on your sewing machine. Turn the fabric to the ideal side and stitch the hem set through the folded material, about 1/8 inch from the inner bend — not from the border.

Fold the bottom hem 1/2 inch, wrong-sides together. Press it flat and bend again — this time 5 ins for a deep hem. Press, pin and stitch as you did for the skinny side hems. Stitch 1/8 inch from the fold contrary to the curtain underside, back-stitching at the beginning and end of the hem.

Tackle the top hem the identical style, to earn a strong border for the clip-on rings. Fold the material beneath 1/2 inch, wrong sides together. Press flat and bend, 2 inches deep, and presson. Then sew the folds flat 1/8 inch from the bottom edge of the folded section and also 1/8 inch from the folded and pressed shirt border. Back-stitch those hems at the beginning and end of the stitching.

Press all the hemmed edges flat one more clip and time the curtain rings to the top hemmed border of each curtain. Hang your drapes and pull them back to reveal the window: Every side window curtain pulls the border of the window from the center window to create a symmetrical frame to the view.
